Cognitive Vision and Agentic Tech at Walmart applies machine learning and computer vision to improve visibility, quality, and execution across the supply chain and stores.

We build and deploy computer vision models that power quality control (QC), defect detection, severity assessment, and product classification—enabling faster, more consistent decisions from receiving and distribution to backroom and on-shelf execution. We partner closely with engineering to productionize these models through scalable data pipelines, reference architectures, and end-to-end vision workflows in a big-data ecosystem.

In this role, you will contribute to vision-based solutions, collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable computer vision capabilities that support Quality Control across Supply Chain Technology (SCT) and store operations.

What you'll Do:

As a Senior Data Scientists at Walmart , you’ll have the opportunity to

• Play a key role to solve complex problems, pivotal to Walmart’s business and drive actionable insights from petabytes of data

• Solve problems using world class algorithms, by researching and implementing these to production using best practices to handle scale and latency requirements

• Develop/Review the production level code for implementation of Deep Vision algorithms

• Research, learn & adapt new technologies to solve problems & improve existing solutions

• Partner with team and stake holders to assess customer needs and define business questions

• Adopt Wal-Mart’s quality standards and develop and recommend process standards and best practices across the retail industry

• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to scale models into production systems

• Design and optimize ML pipelines, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and real-time processing capabilities.

• Deploy and Scale end-to-end models, balancing accuracy and computational efficiency.

• Ensure models meet business and operational requirements, optimizing for accuracy, latency, and reliability.

• Explore and integrate the latest AI advancements, ensuring Walmart remains a leader in AI-driven delivery solutions.

What you'll bring:

• Masters in Engineering/Technology or MSc with 6-9 years of relevant experience

• Problem solver at heart with experience in Machine learning, Computer/Deep Vision / Mutimodal large language models

• Proficiency with Python/PySpark/BiqQuery etc

• Proficiency with ML libraries sklearn/pytorch/tensorflow etc

• Cloud friendliness (GCP/Azure etc) to leverage distributed computing/scalability

• Proven track record of deploying ML models in production, preferably in high-scale environments.

• Knowledge of big data technologies like Spark, Kafka, and SQL.

• Proficiency in MLOps practices, including CI/CD for ML pipelines and model monitoring.

• Strong understanding of DevOps tools and infrastructure automation.

• Ability to drive projects from conception to production in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Good communication/influencing/mentoring skills with inclination to high ownership and commitment
