About the team
Walmart Marketplace is a key part of e-commerce at Walmart. It is a gateway for Third-Party Sellers to manage their operations, such as onboarding, catalogs, order fulfilment, global opportunities, and return & refund management. We are responsible for providing the best in-class marketplace experience for our sellers and customers through the design, development, and operations of highly scalable systems. We interact with multiple teams within the company to develop scalable, robust technical solutions. The data scientist role will be part of the data science team and will play a key role working along with others within the Marketplace engineering organization, product managers and business stakeholders to build Machine Learning products.

What You’ll Do
A Staff data scientist would be expected to play an important role in developing and scaling data science solutions in order to achieve outstanding business outcomes for Marketplace.
Working together with a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop, implement, and test scalable solutions for marketing intelligence domain.
Consult with business stakeholders across Marketplace functions regarding algorithm-based recommendations and be a thought-leader to develop these into business actions.
Mentor junior members and Individually execute multiple projects at the same time.
Manage the continuous improvement of data science and machine learning led initiatives by following industry best practices and staying up-to-date with the state-of-the-art in data science research.
Excellent academic or industrial track record of proposing, conducting and reporting results of original research, plus collaborative research with publications
Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
What You’ll bring
Very good knowledge of the foundations of machine learning and statistics and has made significant original contributions to the area in practice.
Solid experience working with state-of-the-art supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms on real-world problems, preferably in ecommerce domain.
Strong Python coding skills and able to work with at least one other programming language such as Java/Scala.
Ability to work in a big data ecosystem - expert in SQL/Hive and ability to work with Spark.
Extensive hands on experience building and deploying state of the art models (classic ML and Deep learning)
Strong ability to understand the business and good stakeholder management capabilities and has mentored data scientists in developing ML solutions
