What You'll Do
- Drive technical direction and system design for the intent-based networking layer within Walmart’s Zero-Touch Networking stack.
- Build robust, scalable services—including configuration managers, orchestrators, workflow engines, and remediation pipelines.
- Develop clean, extensible APIs and microservices that power internal self-service capabilities.
- Own platform reliability, ensuring observability, alerting, incident management, and root cause analysis are built-in from day one.
- Collaborate across disciplines—network engineering, SRE, operations, product management—to align on priorities and deliver value quickly.
- Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence, promoting collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support 24x7 operations with a strong focus on resilience and automation.

What You’ll bring (3 to 5 brief pointers about the qualifications, exposures and experiences required for the role)
- Proven experience designing and building production-grade infrastructure automation platforms at scale.
- Deep technical expertise in:
- Intent-based networking, infrastructure-as-code, and network systems
- Go and Python for backend development
- Web frameworks such as Django
- Real-time data streaming with Kafka or NATS
- Databases like PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and Git-based workflows.
- Familiarity with source-of-truth systems like NetBox.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) is a strong plus.
- A collaborative mindset, strong debugging skills, and a passion for systems that scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, performance, scalability, reliability, fault tolerance.
- Expertise in one or more modern programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C++.
- Experience building service-oriented/microservices architectures, RESTful/graph APIs, and working with frameworks for high availability and throughput.
- Good working knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., routing/switching, overlay/underlay networks, SDN/NFV, intent-based networking) and network automation.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management (Ansible, Terraform etc), CI/CD pipelines and monitoring/observability tooling.
- Experience mentoring and influencing other engineers, providing technical leadership, setting engineering best practices, and contributing to architectural direction.
- Strong communication skills (both technical and non-technical) — ability to interface with cross-functional teams (networking, SRE, security, devops, product).
- Desired: hands-on experience with zero-touch/zero-human-touch network provisioning frameworks (ZTP), intent-based network control, autonomous network operations.
