Role summary:
Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role drives the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions. Emphasizing engineering excellence and innovation, you will influence architectural decisions and continuously improve processes to deliver high-quality, maintainable software aligned with strategic priorities.
About the team:
The Advertising Business Systems (ABS) team, part of the Advertising Technology group, develops scalable platforms supporting Advertisers, Agencies, Partners, and internal stakeholders. The team focuses on Lead Generation, CRM, Onboarding, Business Management, Media Planning, Order Management, Billing, Insights, Generative AI, and Third Party Tools. ABS delivers intelligent solutions that enhance advertiser engagement and operational efficiency. By aligning technology with business goals, the team drives advertising revenue growth and expands platform capabilities beyond Walmart Connect, fostering innovation and trusted partnerships across Walmart’s advertising ecosystem.
What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, observability, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components to support automation and intelligent features.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and track success metrics.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
• Experience driving full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
• Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation features using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with mentoring skills and sound technical judgment for architectural decisions.
• Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
• Effective collaboration and communication across technical and business stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
