Position Summary...
What you'll do...
As a Staff Software Engineer for Walmart’s Developer AI tool, Wibey, you will partner with other technical leaders to design, build, and iterate on the Wibey Core AI orchestration layers that enable intelligent, context-aware, and personalized developer experiences across Walmart’s global ecosystem. You'll bring deep technical execution to the intersection of AI systems, memory/context management, and multi-agent orchestration – turning architectural vision into working, production-quality software that shapes the future of developer productivity at scale.About the team:
The Wibey Core team is a high-impact group of engineers who design and operate the intelligence layer powering Wibey, Walmart's AI super agent for builders. They sit at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and large-scale platform engineering, solving genuinely hard problems that make a measurable difference for our builders every day.
What you'll do:
- Implement and iterate on complex problems in AI orchestration and context management, building the systems that connect multiple AI agents, MCP servers, and context pipelines while maintaining stateful, secure, and relevant contextual understanding across Wibey interfaces.
- Collaborate with technical leaders and product teams to contribute to technical roadmaps, author and review ADRs (Architectural Decision Records), build POCs and implement them in production.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering and product teams to translate requirements and architectural direction into well-designed, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on the team, helping grow technical craft and accelerating their contributions to Wibey Core.
What you'll bring:
- Experienced full stack development in NodeJS, Python, React, Java, Spring or similar
- Deep expertise in AI systems architecture, including multi-agent orchestration, language model interactions, context persistence, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) – with a track record of shipping these capabilities in production environments.
- Solid understanding of context and memory management in AI applications, including vector databases, embeddings, and session-state design.
- Ability to engage meaningfully in architectural discussions, influence technical direction, and contribute to design decisions alongside senior technical leaders.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and product teams and clearly articulate technical tradeoffs.
