About Team:

As part of Walmart’s Inventory & Merchandising Org, the Assortment Planning team is responsible for solving one of the most critical problems in retail—ensuring customers find the right products, in the right place, at the right time, across stores and digital channels.

We sit at the intersection of demand forecasting, inventory planning, and product placement, building intelligent systems that determine what products should be carried, where they should be available, and how they should evolve over time. These decisions directly impact customer experience, sales, and billions of dollars in inventory efficiency.

Our platforms power assortment decisions at unprecedented scale, handling hundreds of millions of item-location combinations across stores, fulfilment centres, and e-commerce channels.

The team is driving the evolution towards a unified omni planning engine, where assortment, placement, and inventory decisions are no longer siloed but optimised together across all channels. This enables Walmart to deliver a seamless shopping experience while minimizing excess inventory and operational costs.

What you'll do:

  • Write efficient and quality code that can work @ Walmart scale

  • Drive architecture and design of assortment planning platforms that determine what products to carry across stores and digital channels at scale

  • Drive innovation using data, ML, and modern technologies to continuously improve assortment accuracy, customer experience, and inventory efficiency

  • Develop and scale optimization and decisioning engines for millions of item-location combinations with strong performance and reliability

  • Be responsible to on-call support on a need basis.

  • Participate in events to build innovative solutions

What you'll bring:

  • B.E/B.Tech from a reputed institution.

  • Minimum 8 years of solid Java experience.

  • Good understanding of Web Services & Patterns in building Enterprise scale products.

  • Good understanding of distributed systems.
