What you'll do...
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Marketplace Traffic Exposure team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the design and maintenance of advanced frameworks that elevate Walmart's Marketplace capabilities, ensuring unparalleled experiences for both sellers and channel partners. We deliver high-performing applications for sellers to drive customer traffic to their offers with both paid and organic channels. Your responsibilities will encompass coding, debugging, optimizing, and monitoring application health to ensure robust performance. In addition to these technical duties, you will provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth, and actively collaborate with product and UX/UI teams to deliver seamless integrations. What You’ll Do
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:
- Act as a technical lead to design, develop, and deliver multiple business- or technology-driven projects with small to medium-sized teams, supporting new functionalities and user experiences.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping architectural decisions, championing scalable, secure, and efficient solutions to meet current and future needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and mentorship to teammates, partner teams, and engineers.
- Guide software engineers in building and delivering secure REST services using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Kafka, Kubernetes, Maven, and cloud technologies.
- Take ownership across the technical stack to improve speed of delivery, developer productivity, and overall engineering effectiveness.
- Drive availability, quality, performance, and resiliency goals with your team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Product, Business, and Operations to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software products.
- Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering relevant information (issue, impact, and criticality), performing root cause analysis, engaging support teams as needed, developing action plans, and completing required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with peers and stakeholders at all levels.
- Enjoy spending time writing and reviewing code while leading technical and architectural design discussions.
- Help establish tools, processes, and documentation to continuously improve code quality and engineering standards.
What You’ll Bring
- 10+ years of experience building complex architectures, distributed systems, and microservices.
- Expert-level knowledge of Java technologies, SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed caching, event-streaming platforms such as Kafka, and container technologies.
- A disciplined approach to software development, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and clean code practices.
- A strong desire to continuously improve, learn, and adopt the latest capabilities in Kubernetes, Java, and Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with Big Query (data warehousing) and Cloud Bigtable (NoSQL) is a plus.
- Proven ability to translate requirements into project plans while working in an agile environment.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to solve business problems and deliver best-in-class customer experiences.
- A collaborative leadership style that encourages teams to work together and deliver insight-driven outcomes.

Bellevue, Washington US-11663: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
