What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. You will apply cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility while integrating AI/ML technologies to advance intelligent automation. This role requires technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. You will influence architectural decisions, promote engineering excellence, and continuously improve processes to support platform goals and operational success.
About the team:
The IPT team develops and supports platforms for GNFR sourcing, contracting, and procurement using Agile methodology. They deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions aligned with business and technical goals. The team collaborates to analyze requirements, design software, and implement efficient, secure code while maintaining performance standards. Emphasizing continuous improvement, members apply project management and software architecture expertise to drive innovation. By fostering strong stakeholder partnerships and adhering to best practices, the IPT team plays a vital role in Walmart’s operational excellence and commitment to reliable technology platforms.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components to support automation and multi-step reasoning.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and products.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient platforms.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and monitoring.
- Ability to mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting engineering excellence.
- Skilled in data-driven decision making to define metrics, optimize processes, and ensure quality delivery.
- Demonstrated technical judgment and ownership to drive projects to successful completion.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
