About Team

Walmart’s Corporate Tech and Services is a powerhouse of several exceptional teams delivering world-class technology solutions and services making a profound impact at every level of Walmart.

As a key part of Walmart Global Tech, our teams set the bar for operational excellence and leverage emerging technology to support millions of customers, associates, and stakeholders worldwide. Each time an associate turns on their laptop, a customer makes a purchase, a new supplier is onboarded, the company closes the books, physical and legal risk is avoided, and when we pay our associates consistently and accurately, that is Corporate Tech. Joining this team means embarking on a journey of limitless growth, relentless innovation, and the chance to set new industry standards that shape the future of Walmart.

What You Will Do:

• Develop data science solutions to detect duplicate payments, invoice discrepancies, purchase order mismatches, pricing or quantity variances, supplier anomalies, and other post-payment recovery opportunities.

• Build anomaly detection, classification, matching, prioritization, forecasting, and optimization models that support payment integrity and audit workflows.

• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, and reusable analytics datasets using Python, SQL, PySpark, DBT, and cloud data platforms.

• Build GenAI and agentic automation solutions that help audit teams summarize evidence, triage exceptions, generate investigation context, and reduce repetitive manual review.

• Apply prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, embeddings, and vector database patterns to make audit knowledge, policy context, invoice evidence, and historical case information easier to search and use.

• Use agents to support data labeling, data augmentation, weak supervision, and training data preparation for ML models, especially where audit outcomes and exception patterns are sparse, noisy, or inconsistently labeled.

• Provide data science expertise for fine-tuning, model adaptation, evaluation datasets, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop feedback when foundation models need domain-specific behavior, accuracy improvements, or controlled output formats.

• Translate complex audit, finance, and operations problems into measurable analytical approaches with clear success metrics such as precision, recall, false-positive reduction, recovery value, cycle time reduction, and adoption.

• Partner with audit operations, finance stakeholders, product managers, engineers, and business teams to operationalize models and integrate insights into business processes.

• Perform exploratory data analysis and root-cause analysis across large, complex, and often imperfect datasets.

• Develop data quality checks, monitoring processes, and validation methods to ensure analytical outputs are accurate, explainable, and repeatable.

• Communicate findings, trade-offs, recommendations, and model limitations clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.

• Mentor analysts and data scientists on analytical methods, feature engineering, experimentation, production readiness, and storytelling best practices.

• Drive continuous improvement in audit analytics by identifying opportunities to automate manual processes, improve model performance, and scale reusable data products.

• Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

What You Will Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Analytics, Information Technology, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience.

• Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, PySpark, and large-scale data processing.

• Experience building production or near-production machine learning and analytics solutions, including anomaly detection, classification, regression, forecasting, matching, optimization, or statistical modelling.

• Experience designing data pipelines, feature engineering workflows, data quality checks, model scoring processes, and reusable analytics datasets.

• Experience working with large structured and semi-structured datasets from multiple source systems.

• Strong understanding of statistics, experimental design, model evaluation, explainability, and business impact measurement.

• Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into analytical solutions and communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Practical understanding of GenAI patterns such as agentic automation, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, document intelligence, and LLM evaluation.

• Experience with cloud data platforms and enterprise ML/data tooling such as BigQuery, distributed compute, orchestration frameworks, model evaluation, model monitoring, or equivalent technologies.

• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across Finance, Audit, Operations, Product, and Engineering teams.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and influence analytical best practices.
