What you'll do...
About the role- The Group Director, Technology Operations will lead the operational strategy, reliability, and performance of business-critical technology platforms, including Global Marketplace, Walmart Commerce Platforms, Last Mile Delivery, and Global Integrated Fulfillment (GIF). In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the availability, scalability, and operational excellence of the platforms that power millions of customer interactions, third-party seller experiences, order fulfillment journeys, and delivery transactions every day. As a key technology leader, you will drive operational transformation across a diverse portfolio of platforms supporting Walmart's omnichannel ecosystem. You will champion modern operational practices, AI-driven automation, observability, and reliability engineering to improve service resilience, accelerate issue resolution, and enable rapid innovation. This role requires balancing operational excellence with business growth, ensuring technology operations can support Walmart's expanding digital marketplace and delivery capabilities. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketplace, eCommerce, Last Mile Delivery, Customer Experience, and Enterprise Technology leaders to deliver seamless, reliable experiences for customers, sellers, drivers, and associates. The position is based in Bentonville, AR and reports to the Vice President, Technology Operations. What you will bring...- You have extensive experience leading technology operations for large-scale eCommerce, marketplace, digital commerce, or customer-facing platforms.
- You possess deep expertise in reliability engineering, production operations, incident management, and platform scalability.
- You have successfully leveraged AI, automation, and operational intelligence to improve reliability, productivity, and customer outcomes.
- You thrive in fast-paced, highly complex environments where platform performance directly impacts customer satisfaction and revenue growth.
- You are an influential leader who can align cross-functional teams around operational excellence and business priorities.
- You have experience supporting high-growth platforms with globally distributed users, sellers, partners, and operational teams.
- Defining and executing the operational strategy for Walmart's Marketplace, Commerce Platforms, Last Mile Delivery, and GIF technology ecosystems.
- Ensuring industry-leading platform reliability, availability, and performance for customer, seller, and delivery experiences.
- Driving AI-enabled operations, automation, and observability capabilities that improve efficiency, reduce operational risk, and proactively identify service disruptions.
- Leading large-scale incident management and resiliency programs that minimize customer impact and strengthen platform stability.
- Partnering with Product and Engineering teams to accelerate platform innovation while maintaining operational excellence and service quality.
- Enabling Walmart's digital growth by building scalable operational capabilities that support increasing transaction volumes, seller expansion, and delivery network growth.
- Developing high-performing technology operations teams and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer obsession.

The annual salary range for this position is $195,000.00 - $370,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.Option 2: 10 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
