Responsible for coding, unit testing, building high performance and scalable applications that meet the needs of millions of Walmart-International customers, in the areas of supply chain management & Customer experience.
About Team:
The Global Marketplace team within International Technology focuses on platforms responsible for providing a best-in-class experience to 3rd Party Sellers. We operate globally across many countries.
We are looking for a highly skilled **Staff Software Engineer/Architect** who can drive the design, architecture, and delivery of our next-generation platforms, ensuring a focus on multi-tenancy, scalability, robustness, security, and the integration of AI solutions. The platforms you build will serve as the backbone for Seller Onboarding, Growth, Analytics, and Catalog expansion across multiple countries—each representing a multibillion-dollar business for Walmart.
You will be solving complex business and technical challenges at a global scale while delivering a seamless experience for Walmart's customers and sellers.
What you'll do:
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and documentation** of technical solutions.
- Build, test, and deploy cutting-edge solutions at scale, impacting associates at Walmart globally.
- Interact with Walmart’s engineering teams across geographies to **leverage expertise** and contribute to the tech community.
- Collaborate with **Product Management and Business teams** to define goals, set priorities, and deliver exceptional products.
- Apply technical expertise to **design and develop enhanced processes** and technical solutions aligned with strategic initiatives.
- Work closely with **Architects and cross-functional teams**, ensuring adherence to established best practices for the delivery of robust solutions meeting **Quality, Cost & Delivery (QCD)** expectations.
- Partner with **senior leadership** to define and implement the product roadmap for future initiatives.
- Participate in **hiring high-performing team members** and mentoring/empowering engineering teams to maximize their ability to deliver.
- Work cross-functionally with Business Owners, Product Managers, and technical teams domestically and internationally to align solutions with Walmart’s global business strategy.
- Define and create **high-level and low-level designs** while driving design discussions and technical decision-making across teams.
- Establish and promote **best practices, coding standards**, and other non-functional requirements to guide teams toward technical execution excellence.
- Implement **AI-driven models and algorithms** to improve processes and handle vast amounts of structured and unstructured data efficiently.
- Work in collaboration with engineering teams, including cloud, platform, and analytics teams, across geographies to contribute to and utilize the best technical solutions.
- Advocate for and contribute to **open-source technologies** to drive significant global impact.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.S.) in **Computer Science** or a relevant discipline.
- 10+ years** of experience in designing, developing, and deploying highly scalable applications and platforms.
- Strong foundation in **computer science fundamentals**, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Proven experience in **managing tech debt/modernizing technologies** for scalability and performance.
- Advanced proficiency with programming languages such as **Java, Scala, or Golang** (at least two).
- Hands-on experience in **Microservices architecture** and development of **RESTful web services** using frameworks like Spring Boot, Dropwizard, or Node.js.
- Expertise in **messaging systems** such as **Kafka** or **RabbitMQ**.
- Strong knowledge of databases (**SQL and NoSQL**) and query optimization techniques.
- Deep understanding of **cloud computing architectures (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP)** and **microservices-related stacks** (Service Registries, ELK/Splunk, etc.).
- Familiarity with **containerization technologies** such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in **CI/CD development environments and tools**, including Git, Maven, Jenkins, etc.
