Position Summary...
The Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML integration, and software design patterns to build resilient, modular solutions. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with business goals and engineering excellence. The engineer applies data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices to enhance productivity and deliver high-quality software solutions that support Walmart’s strategic objectives.About the team:
The team develops a high-performance, scalable ETL platform supporting Walmart Fulfillment Services, enabling sellers to fulfill customer orders efficiently. Built on a cloud-native, event-driven microservice architecture, the platform leverages various technologies and middleware. Team members collaborate to design, develop, and maintain robust solutions that address evolving supply chain needs. Emphasizing technical excellence, the team applies best practices in software design, API development, and DevOps engineering. Members engage in continuous learning, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making to deliver innovative, reliable products that enhance seller and customer experiences within Walmart’s ecosystem.
What you'll do...
- Exhibit a strong AI-first approach to software development, prioritizing use of AI agents for code generation, automation, and decision-making.
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and machine learning frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Lead system design reviews to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural standards.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate machine learning components to enhance automation and intelligence.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
- Apply data-driven methods to define success metrics and optimize development processes.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C++.
- Demonstrated skills in problem solving, requirements analysis, and data-driven decision making to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Effective collaboration and mentorship capabilities to guide engineering teams and foster continuous learning.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
