What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software lifecycle from design through deployment and maintenance. This role requires expertise in cloud-native architectures, API design, and adopt GenAI tools for integration to build resilient, modular solutions. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to align priorities and ensure quality. Your contributions will enhance developer productivity and support business objectives through innovative, data-driven engineering practices within an agile environment.
About the team:
The Philanthropy Engineering team drives Walmart’s commitment to responsible business by developing cloud-native backend services using open-source technologies. Collaborating with engineers, UX designers, and product managers, the team builds scalable, maintainable solutions supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives such as disaster relief and community programs. The team emphasizes technical expertise and innovation, applying agile methodologies and leveraging skills in Spring Boot, APIs, Java, and cloud databases. Members focus on delivering reliable, efficient software solutions that align with business goals and enhance community engagement through impactful technology.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate machine learning components to enhance automation and intelligence.
- Lead system design reviews to validate quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural standards.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
- Continuously improve processes, tools, and products through innovation and data-driven practices.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient platforms.
- Strong software development skills across the full lifecycle, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience in API design, software prototyping, and applying design patterns to create secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
- Ability to lead technical design reviews and mentor engineers to foster continuous learning and engineering excellence.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision making to define metrics, optimize processes, and deliver high-quality technical solutions.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills to communicate complex ideas effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
