What you'll do...

Position: Staff Software Engineer

Job Location: 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering information; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project and cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; enhancing design to prevent defect re-occurrences; ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team. Leads small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned engineering projects by providing documents, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long-term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews. Troubleshoots business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information; engaging support teams to assist in resolution; formulating action plans; directing actions as designated; interpreting results to determine further action; performing root cause analysis to prevent future issues; and completing online documentation. Requirement Scoping Analysis: Tracks and analyzes defects for components/modules and carries out regression testing to fix defects in code changes. Analyzes defects from past projects/solutions to avoid recurrence. Troubleshoots performance and availability bottlenecks. Develops innovation strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams; partnering with cross-functional teams; developing assessments of key opportunities; documenting project scopes; developing long-range plans and timelines; communicating with and influencing decision-makers and executives; and resolving technology differences across teams through informed discussions. DevOps Orientation: Conducts complex maintenance procedures independently. Monitors and evaluates application performance by tracking and analyzing metrics; performs maintenance and re-engineering activities. Analyzes application logs, maintenance activity, performance data; evaluates change requests to identify those valid and feasible. Utilizes industry research to improve Wal-Mart's technology environment by analyzing best practices; researching or influencing future solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards, and processes. Solution Design: Assists in designing solutions so processes/applications work in tandem for specific components/modules. Evaluates trade-offs while designing components based on business requirements. Assists in converting HLD to detailed design using mock screens, pseudo code, and detailed functional logic for specific modules/components. Coding: Selects appropriate frameworks, platforms, and environments for coding/configuration and scripting. Guides team on coding patterns, languages, and frameworks aligned with evolving industry trends; drives scalability and security. Drives implementation of telemetry features by determining data/metrics requirements within domain. Supports ad-hoc code reviews to ensure baseline mitigations for known risks. Creates/configures minimalistic code for entire products/systems ensuring business requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability, and scalability needs are met. Oversees code executed by team according to technical/business requirements. Drives creation of scripts for automating repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD, testing, or other processes. Testing: Translates customer requirements into test strategy. Determines testing tools, domains, environments, and test types to achieve objectives. Selects, introduces, and implements various testing tools. Identifies scope and method of testing per requirement.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field plus 4 years of experience in software engineering or related experience; OR Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of experience in software engineering or related experience.

Skills Required: Must have experience with: developing mobile applications using React Native; developing user interfaces using React JS; programming with JavaScript and TypeScript; managing application state with Redux; implementing local storage using AsyncStorage; implementing push notifications; debugging applications using Flipper; developing APIs using GraphQL; using Firebase services; publishing applications to AppStore and PlayStore; configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; implementing accessibility features. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Rate of pay: $110,000.00 - 220,000.00/year
