About the team:
The Marketplace Engineering team develops and maintains core platforms that support Walmart’s extensive product range and competitive pricing. This team manages the seller lifecycle, monitors customer interactions, and delivers insights to optimize assortment, pricing, and inventory. Collaborating with partner platform teams, they ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement of seller and customer experiences on walmart.com. Utilizing cloud-native architecture, software design patterns, and data-driven decision-making, the team builds scalable, resilient solutions that drive operational excellence and innovation across the marketplace ecosystem.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and intelligent automation features.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in software design patterns, API design, and cloud-native architecture principles.
- Strong programming skills in Java and familiarity with multiple languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript.
- Experience driving full software development lifecycle including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Ability to conduct system design reviews ensuring quality, scalability, and alignment with architectural best practices.
- Proficiency in debugging, problem solving, and data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and collaborative cross-team communication skills.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
