Position Summary...
What you'll do...
We are seeking a talented and passionate Staff Software Engineer to join Walmart’s Pre-Purchase eCommerce organization. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of large-scale Content Management platforms and capabilities that power critical customer and merchant experiences. As a hands-on technical leader, you will architect and build scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and Apache Kafka. You will apply strong software-engineering fundamentals and distributed-system design principles to develop reliable, high-performance, event-driven platforms. You will own solutions across the complete software development lifecycle—from architecture and hands-on implementation through testing, deployment, observability, and production support. You will also apply cloud-native principles and DevOps practices to improve platform scalability, resilience, performance, security, and operational agility. The role includes driving key architectural and technical decisions, establishing reusable engineering patterns and standards, and collaborating closely with engineering, product, architecture, and user-experience teams to deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Kafka, cloud-native technologies, and scalable system design with strong problem-solving and technical leadership skills. You will mentor engineers, raise the technical bar across the organization, and continuously improve development practices, tools, infrastructure, and platform capabilities. Experience designing AI/ML frameworks or Agentic AI workflows is an additional advantage. About the Team The Content Management team within Walmart’s Pre-Purchase eCommerce organization builds and operates Walmart’s homegrown content management platform. The platform enables merchants and content teams to create, manage, personalize, schedule, and deliver digital content across Walmart.com, Sam’s Club, and international markets. The platform is also evolving from predominantly manual, form-based content curation toward intelligent, AI-assisted experiences. The team is introducing Agentic AI workflows that can understand business requirements, generate and recommend content, coordinate specialized agents and platform services, and guide users through content creation and publishing with appropriate human review and approval. *****Immigration Sponsorship support is NOT available for this position****What you'll do:

- Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot, with a strong track record of designing, building, and scaling production-grade backend services and platforms.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, transactions, performance tuning, and operating databases at scale.

- Proven ability to drive architecture and design decisions for distributed systems that power critical, high-traffic applications.
- Experience defining clear and scalable service contracts using REST APIs, Agent-to-Agent protocols, and Model Context Protocol.
- Strong understanding of system performance, reliability, scalability, resiliency, security, and operational readiness.
- Experience developing and maintaining large-scale content management or content-delivery platforms that serve customer-facing digital experiences.
- Ability to establish and drive engineering standards across coding, testing, code reviews, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and production support.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native development, containerized applications, automated deployments, and modern DevOps practices.
