Role summary:Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. About the team:
The BuyBox team plays a key role in Walmart’s e-commerce platform by developing and maintaining a microservices ecosystem that optimizes offer selection using machine learning and business rules. The team focuses on enhancing offer ranking, ensuring smooth system interactions, and monitoring performance to address issues swiftly. Emphasizing collaboration, technical expertise, and continuous innovation, the team drives operational excellence and supply chain efficiency. Utilizing agile methodologies and data-driven decision making, the team supports Walmart’s commitment to reliable service and value, fostering a culture centered on problem solving and ongoing improvement.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and machine learning frameworks aligned with roadmap priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead system design reviews to validate quality and alignment with architectural standards.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating intelligent automation features using multiple programming languages.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through collaboration and documentation.
- Engage stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and track success metrics.
- Continuously improve processes, tools, and products by embracing innovation and industry trends.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient platforms.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to integrate AI/ML components and intelligent automation using languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C++.
- Demonstrated skills in debugging, problem solving, and data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
- Effective collaboration and mentorship capabilities to guide teams and influence technical decisions.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
