What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable software solutions by managing feature implementation, testing, and ongoing support within collaborative teams. You will apply advanced programming skills and technical judgment to design, develop, and maintain high-quality systems aligned with strategic objectives. This role involves integrating AI/ML components, driving continuous improvement, and mentoring peers while ensuring adherence to best practices and operational excellence. About the team:
The Walmart Emerging-Tech group pioneers next-generation retail and shopping experiences across online and in-store platforms. This team leads initiatives in Emerging Content, XR, Conversational AI, and Voice Assistants, developing innovative capabilities that enhance customer interaction with products. Beyond end-user solutions, the group builds platform APIs and tools to empower other teams in leveraging advanced content technologies. Members collaborate to design scalable, reliable software systems, integrating AI and iterative development practices to deliver impactful features. The team fosters continuous improvement and technical excellence to support Walmart’s evolving technology landscape.
What you'll do:
- Own delivery of scoped features and components through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system objectives.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
- Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
- Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply best practices for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and measure solution impact.
- Monitor application performance and support ongoing maintenance and debugging efforts.
- Mentor peers and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
What you'll bring:
- An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS – Computer Science preferred.
- Full stack experience with Java, Microservices. SpringBoot, Cloud, Kafka (or other messaging service), Redis or any caching technologies, RDBMS, Bigdata systems, Javascript, React
- CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
- Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.
- Mentoring/coaching Senior staff engineers and other Engineers.
- Practitioner of Agile (Scrum) methodology
- Demonstrated skills in AI/ML integration and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
