Role summary:As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. You will apply cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility while integrating AI/ML technologies to advance intelligent automation. This role requires technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. You will influence architectural decisions, promote engineering excellence, and continuously improve processes to support Walmart’s technology goals and operational success.
About the team:
The Sponsored Campaign Management Team develops scalable Java-based microservices to efficiently manage campaign attributes aligned with platform goals. The team emphasizes collaborative engineering, iterative development, and continuous testing to ensure high-quality software. Integrating AI components and applying object-oriented design principles, members drive innovation and effective problem-solving. Cross-functional collaboration supports delivering reliable, customer-focused solutions within a structured development lifecycle. Commitment to technical excellence, design reviews, and continuous learning enables the team to meet evolving business and platform objectives while fostering a culture of accountability and engineering rigor.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure quality and alignment with architectural standards.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through best practices.
- Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and optimize development processes using data-driven methods.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
- Ability to lead technical design reviews and remedial actions to uphold quality and alignment with architectural standards.
- Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance developer productivity and platform capabilities.
- Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction for sustainable outcomes.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
