Position: Staff Software Engineer

Job Location: 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Platform Engineering Execution: Delivers platform capabilities within a sub-organization or technical area, including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks (for example, CI/CD, SDKs, model runtimes, feature stores). Aligns development efforts with roadmap milestones and domain priorities to ensure cohesive execution. Applies cloud-native architecture principles (for example, microservices, containers, automation) to achieve scalability, resilience, and agility across systems. Software Development & Lifecycle Ownership: Drives the full software development lifecycle: coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, observability, monitoring, and maintenance. Leads infrastructure and tooling development to accelerate engineering productivity, enhance developer experience, and support platform goals. Conducts system design reviews to validate feasibility, ensure quality, and confirm alignment with project goals and architectural best practices. AI/ML Integration & Product Development: Builds AI-driven applications and intelligent automation features using languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++. Integrates AI agents and ML components that support multi-step reasoning and automation using platforms like GitHub Copilot. Applies design patterns and principles to ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, modular, and scalable. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Mentors engineers and junior leaders across teams, fostering technical growth, psychological safety, and continuous learning. Influences architectural and technical decisions, advocating for standardization, reusability, and long-term sustainability. Enables team members through delegation, documentation, developer tool selection, and design guidance. Customer/Associate Problem Definition & Metrics: Engages product and business stakeholders to identify and refine complex user problems, converting them into actionable technical requirements. Breaks down work into well-scoped, actionable units ready for engineering execution. Uses data-driven engineering practices to define and track success metrics, optimize development processes, and maintain engineering excellence. Engineering Excellence: Contributes to API design and software prototyping to validate technical solutions and gather early feedback. Facilitates correction-of-error review processes to continuously improve code quality and reduce defect recurrence. Stays current with industry trends and contributes to engineering thought leadership through documentation, tool evaluations, and internal knowledge sharing. Technical Ownership: Demonstrates responsibility for deliverables, ensuring solutions meet quality standards and business objectives. Takes initiative to resolve issues and drive projects to completion. Technical Judgment: Applies sound reasoning to make informed technical decisions, balancing trade-offs and considering long-term impacts on system architecture and business goals. Change Agility: Adapts quickly to change, embraces new technologies, and understands the broader system context.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Engineering (any) or related field plus 2 years of experience in software engineering or related area; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related field plus 4 years of experience in software engineering or related area.

Skills required: Must have experience with: Coding object-oriented programming languages Python, Java or C++; Coding functional programing languages including Scala; Dependency management tools: Maven or Gradle; Working with Cloud platforms: Azure, GCP or AWS; Working with Cloud data warehouses: Snowflake, Redshift, Google BigQuery or Azure DB; Applications deployment using CICD tool Jenkins; Implementing data pipelines using workflow orchestration tools including Apache Airflow; Using big data processing engine Apache Spark and its relevant platforms like Databricks, Amazon EMR or Google DataProc; Agile software development methodologies and tools Github or Azure DevOps; Coding standards, secure coding practices, CI/CD automation, and DevOps best practices; Conducting code reviews to enhance code quality, catch early issues thus ensuring reliable, scalable, and secured code implementation; Software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, designing, implementation, testing, deployment, and support; Working with SQL databases, optimizing data models and queries for performance and scalability; Writing unit test cases for code verification and code coverage using PyTest, Junit; Building dashboards using business intelligence tools like Tableau, QuickSight or Power BI; Shell scripting and Unix CLI commands. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Rate of pay: $110,000.00 - 220,000.00/year
