Your New Role:
The Audio (A1) works directly with the partners of WBD and Techwood Studios to determine the technical and artistic audio needs of live game and/or studio broadcast productions. The person in this role handles audio mixing for live game and/or studio broadcast production utilizing their experience with large format audio consoles as well as their knowledge and experience with analog, digital and IP based audio networking systems. The Audio (A1) is also expected to identify problems, troubleshoot audio equipment and work on the set up, execution and strike of Audio Control Rooms and/or live location environment.

Your Role Accountabilities:

LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS

  • Responsible for building specific show set ups, operating audio consoles and operating/managing associated technical equipment in an Audio Control Room and/or Live Location environment during live game and/or studio broadcast productions.
  • Direct Audio Assist (A2) during set up of any technical/creative needs prior and during live game and/or studio broadcast productions.
  • Collaborate with Technical Director, Audio Assist (A2) and Floor Director for the technical fax to verify all audio signals are routed correctly and making it to their final destinations.
  • During a live game and/or studio broadcast production, actively track, monitor, and adjust audio levels, timing, phases, etc. as needed for all talent microphones, video and music playback as well as incoming external feeds (NBATV Arena Link/Satellite/Bonded Cellular/Etc.)

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION

  • Work closely with the Senior Audio Technical Specialist, Technical Operations and Production (BEST) Engineering to identify, troubleshoot and solve technical problems Live Location, ACRs and Studio productions. Making sure each problem is resolved to completion.
  • Collaborates with Senior Audio Technical Specialist, Production (BEST) Engineering, Technical Operations and Production Management to identify and special order any equipment needed for live game and/or studio broadcast productions.

PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates documentation on audio console builds and proper routes of audio signals bi-directionally for each broadcast production

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • 4 – 6 years of network level broadcast production experience operating as an Audio (A1) for live game, live remote and/or live studio multi-talent productions
  • Knowledgeable of current industry standards
  • Knowledge of audio signal flow and audio router operations
  • Knowledge of intercom operation and editing software
  • Knowledge of studio wiring as it pertains to audio signals
  • Knowledge of radio frequency setup and troubleshooting
  • Must be able to technically operate various models of audio consoles, digital audio devices and other ancillary equipment
  • Must have strong leadership skills as well as excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Must take ownership and accountability for assigned projects
  • Good computer skills, a logical approach, solid creative judgement, and a creative ear
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints
  • Able to work flexible, non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays

Not Required but preferred experience:

  • 2 – 3 years of experience building setups and operating/mixing Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound
  • Knowledge of Lawo and Calrec audio consoles
  • Knowledge of AZ Edit Software
  • Knowledgeable of new technologies available or on the horizon
