Meet Our Team
Global Quality Assurance (GQA) promotes a shift-left approach and provides standardized process and tools to enhance the quality of applications for various WBD brands in News, Sports, and Entertainment verticals. We work closely with our brand partners and act as a center of expertise, best practice, and continuous improvement in the field of quality engineering. Quality is owned by the entire team. GQA Engineers are the frontline owners of the quality processes, including the process of development, testing, and delivery.
As a Manager, Software Engineer in Test in the GQA, you will be responsible for ensuring software quality using efficient and reliable test automation. The ideal candidate has built multiple stable, scalable, and reliable automated suites that have been running successfully in production environments and provide extensive quality benefits. Additionally, we are looking for a QE leader who cares about the user experience and has a passion for quality, learning, and collaboration.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Scope: Leads a direct team of engineers facing some ambiguity. Defines the direct team's purpose and helps drive alignment and contribution to the larger departmental goals. Creates clarity for the team in terms of deliverables and execution expectations.
Impact: Owns team’s output and quality. Facilitates goal achievement by effective selection and development of team members and works towards enhancing team productivity.
Problem Definition & Complexity: Problems are diverse in scope. Sometimes requires support from leadership. Helps provide detailed instructions for solving complex problems to the team.
Execution: Primarily tactical. Facilitates ramping up of a team or building a roadmap under supervised guidance. Displays high ownership. Drives operational excellence and ensures the team is delivering high quality code, on time. Could roll up sleeves to make direct engineering contributions if needed.
Influence: Influence the technical vision for the team. Ability to influence in discussions with peers, manager and key stakeholders. Contributes to strategic planning with regard to how to build.
Process Improvement: Optimizes team mechanisms to drive efficiency and improve productivity. Tries to find better ways of doing things.
Mentorship: Mentors team members, asks thoughtful questions and seeks feedback for self with an intent to become a better manager.
What to Bring:
10+ yrs of relevant experience, knowledge of various test activities across release pipelines to promote artefacts from dev to prod, including unit testing, regression testing, cert testing, client testing, etc.
Demonstrated technical leadership by providing guidance to engineers and driving project solutions as the lead.
Experience driving test design, implementation, and automation processes.
Strong understanding of digital product development and testing for web, mobile, connected devices, backend services
Understanding of test cases, test data, test runs, and test results management that provides feedback and visibility to qualify & quantify test coverage.
Understanding of multiple test types including unit, functional, integration, end to end, security, performance, load, and UI tests.
Able to collaborate and work with development teams across multiple time zones and locations
Ability to collaborate with technology resources on projects given solid understanding of current technologies and trends.
Reviews automated test run results and verifies results
Triages test failures and determine if the failed test is the result of a bug or an issue with the test script or test data
Must Have Experience in Tools/Frameworks/Language/Processes:
Framework Design and Development – BDD (Cucumber/JBehave)
Coding language - Java/JavaScript
UI Automation - Selenium
Mobile Automation - Appium or any other tool for Android/iOS
CI/CD - Jenkins/Github Action/Teamcity
Source Code Management - GitHub/SVN
Test case management - Jira/TestRail/QMetry
Nice to Have:
Ability to scout emerging industry trends such as AI testing and other best in class processes.
API Automation – GraphQL, RestAssured/SoapUI
