40Position Summary
The newly funded Cystic Fibrosis Research Development Seed Program at Washington University seeks researchers to help establish a Cellular Models and Physiology Core Laboratory. This laboratory, under the Direction of Ron Rubenstein, MD, PhD, and Deepika Polineni, MD, MPH, will support multiple developing collaborations within WashU that aim to address fundamental questions focused on the interaction of the epithelia and immune systems in CF.Work in the lab will include enabling the collaborative use of epithelial models derived from primary or induced pluripotent stem cells, as well as manipulation and assessment of these models using techniques of cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, microscopy, and epithelial electrophysiology. This core will also endeavor to create systems by which the influence of isolated immune/inflammatory cells may influence epithelial function, and vice versa, and how these interactions may be influenced by gene therapy or gene editing.
