20Position Summary
Position supports development and regular maintenance of system or database.The student intern will work part-time, defined as no more than 20 hours per week, for the duration of the internship, which will last a minimum of 10 weeks and up to a maximum of 26 weeks. The intern will be placed in the Office of Technology Management (OTM) at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU).
During this time, the intern will support the WashU Gap Fund program operated by OTM as well as the OTM Expert-in-Residence (XiR) program. The intern will play a crucial role in the successful operation of these programs by completing various assigned tasks.
Through these activities, the intern will gain insightful exposure to the operations of a university technology transfer office and the commercialization process of research discoveries and technologies developed through academic research. Additionally, the intern will develop and demonstrate transferable skills, making them more competitive in the job market.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Participating in office meetings, team meetings, and one-on-one meetings with supervisor Retrieve, assemble, clean, organize, and prepare data for migration into the system.
- Performing essential functions including, but not limited to, the following:
- Preparing, updating, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents for the WashU Gap Fund and OTM XiR programs.
- Entering activity data regarding the Gap Fund program into the Cayuse database.
- Entering and managing information about Gap Fund projects in the Cayuse database.
- Screening the WashU intellectual property portfolio to identify promising candidates for Gap Fund support.
- Preparing preliminary assessments of proposed Gap Fund projects.
- Researching topics and collecting data necessary to evaluate proposed Gap Fund projects.
- Reviewing pitch decks for proposed Gap Fund projects and recommending opportunities for improvement.
- Identifying and soliciting potential participants for ad hoc Gap Fund evaluation panels, typically via email.
- Consolidating feedback from participants in ad hoc Gap Fund evaluation panels.
- Preparing drafts of proposed scopes of work for Gap Fund projects.
- Collecting outcomes data for completed Gap Fund projects.
- Identifying and soliciting potential experts for the XiR program, typically via email.
- Moderating one or more XiR program participant networks.
- Reviewing the quality of XiR program meeting summaries.
Suggest sustainable strategies for improving the efficiency of on-going data acquisition and management.
Assist with the development of routine data audit and management plans for users.
Perform other duties as assigned.
