The Egervari Lab at WashU in St. Louis is recruiting a Research Technician. We focus on the emerging area of metabolic-epigenetic interactions in the brain, particularly in the context of substance use disorders and neurodegeneration. We utilize cutting-edge proteomic, metabolomic and genomic approaches, including on the single cell level, to understand how metabolites influence chromatin and gene expression in the brain. Further, we apply mouse behavioral models and in vitro mechanistic studies to query the role of these pathways in disease and to identify novel therapeutic targets.Will assist with laboratory organization, maintenance and ordering. The candidate will be comfortable working with mice and maintaining colony lines as required for ongoing experimental work. In addition, the candidate will work alongside members of the lab to assist with technical aspects of studies and experiments.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
Assists with laboratory organization, maintenance, compliance and ordering.
Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
Maintains mouse colony including breeding, sexing and weaning of mice.
Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, Behavior, Neuroscience, or Molecular Biology.
- Strong background in Neuroscience, Genetics, or Cell Biology.
- The ideal candidate will have up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Previous experience with molecular biology techniques, rodent handling or tissue culture is a plus.

$16.92 - $26.44 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
