Position Summary
The Program in Physical Therapy at WashU Medicine in St. Louis has an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Tendon Rehab Lab team. The Tendon Rehab Lab is an interdisciplinary lab group investigating tendon injury and healing. Current projects within the lab span from human subjects research to the study of ex vivo tissues and preclinical models.This position is anticipated to focus on advancing imaging techniques within the lab and will provide a supportive role to other projects within the group. Individuals with engineering (biomedical and mechanical/materials science) backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
Additional Information:
* The appointment is of limited duration generally, not to exceed five years cumulatively unless there are extenuating circumstances.
* The appointment is not part of a clinical training program.
* Research Scholar Appointment is used when the appointee participates in a teaching and research training program, such as a fellowship or training grant, that develops the individual’s research skills for their primary benefit.
* Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for funding by a T32 mechanism.

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
- Works collaboratively with the principal investigator and research team towards achieving career goals.
- Works with the principal investigator and research team members to successfully execute the aims of ongoing human research studies and assistance to studies in preclinical models.
- Performs complex statistical analysis of data collected and writes interpretative reports. Verifies the correctness of the data submitted and makes recommendations based on these analyses.
- Conducts literature searches and formulates impactful scientific questions related to ongoing research projects.
- Disseminates research findings through presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts both within and outside the University.
- Develops own and assists with ongoing grant submissions and reporting.
- Complies with ethical standards and good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to more junior lab members.
- Conscientious discharge of their research responsibilities.
- Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.

- Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
- Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
- Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Salary Range:
Base pay is commensurate with experience.

- Experience in movement biomechanics and image analysis is highly valued.
