- Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer
- This position is for the Customer Impact Management Technology (CIMT) group, supporting the Loudspeaker business. This individual will be a member of an agile delivery team with primary responsibility to support hands-on development on Data Warehouse applications that support business analytic and reporting requirements.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of ETL Development experience
- 4+ years of Data warehouse experience
- 2+ years of Teradata experience
- 2+ years of experience with Ab Initio
Job Expectations:
- Design, code, test, debug, and document enhancements to data warehouse applications.
- Ability to lead a team efficiently and be responsible for the design and implementation of numerous complex data flows to connect information security data sources for analytics and business intelligence systems
- Work within an agile team model to deliver application enhancement releases.
- Self-assign stories from a product backlog and collaborate with the Scrum Master, Product Owners, Engineers, and User Acceptance Testers to deliver business stories.
- Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technical options and procedural approaches.
- Strong experience in relational databases, Database design, Data Model development, querying, data warehousing, ETL process, requirements gathering and/or decision support tools.
- Hands-on experience in SQL especially in SQL Server & Teradata environment
- Hands-on experience in ETL development
- Work with a variety of data ingestion patterns (NDM files, direct DB connections and APIs) to receive data in the warehouse.
- Support temporal data management and change data capture solutions.
- Build custom curated data views for data consumption by business reporting and analytic tools.
- Provide escalated application support for production issues.
- Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience designing and optimizing complex SQL and/or SAS queries
- Experience working in operational reporting
- Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and Kanban
- 2+ years of experience with modern software engineering technologies and tool sets
- 2+ years of experience with systems architecture and design
- 3+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience; in data, systems, applications, or architecture
- 3+ years of experience in building Data APIs/Services
