About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer focused on Agentic AI and AI capabilities to lead the development and implementation of advanced AI solutions within our financial services organization. This role is crucial in building out agent capabilities for the enterprise, delivering significant value for all Wells Fargo employees. The successful candidate will drive innovation, efficiency, and transformative changes through the integration of AI technologies into business processes. This position requires a deep understanding of AI technologies and their application in large-scale enterprise environments.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven agent capabilities across the enterprise. Develop and execute plans to integrate AI technologies into business processes, enhancing operational efficiency and employee productivity. Set the vision and roadmap for AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Support the transformation of Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) capabilities into Generative AI and Agent technologies. Drive efficiencies and productivity across Wells Fargo enterprise divisions through innovative AI solutions. Modernize EFT by leveraging AI to automate processes, improve decision-making, and raise employee productivity.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including IT and business units, to identify opportunities for AI integration and enhancement. Foster partnerships to ensure alignment of AI initiatives with business goals. Understand stakeholders’ needs and translate them into technical requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Act as a subject matter expert in AI technologies, offering strategic insights and leadership within the team. Develop training programs and resources to help junior engineers grow their skills.

  • Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the organization's AI strategy. Drive innovation by exploring new AI applications and solutions that can benefit the enterprise. Lead research and development efforts to keep Wells Fargo at the forefront of AI technology.

  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of AI solutions. Implement best practices for AI model development, deployment, and maintenance to ensure robust and secure operations. Oversee the architecture and infrastructure of AI systems to ensure they meet enterprise standards.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior leadership, to convey complex technical concepts and the value of AI initiatives. Prepare and present reports, proposals, and technical documentation to support decision-making processes. Articulate the benefits and impact of AI projects to non-technical audiences.


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

  • 2+ Years with Microsoft Copilot Studio.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • Familiarity with generative AI concepts such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic workflows.

  • Familiarity with Data Connectors and API gateways that support seamless communication between systems.

  • Deep subject matter expertise in AI technologies, including but not limited to Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Google Agent Space, Google Gemini, Microsoft 365, and M365 Copilot.

  • Ability to orchestrate processes across integrated systems to enable robust workflows and seamless operations.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and end-user needs.

  • A strong focus on cybersecurity and risk management throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Passion for designing solutions that prioritize end-user experience and usability.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in complex system design.

Compensation for this position ranges from $144,400 to $300,000 depending on skills and expertise.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
