About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer within the Application and Cloud Transformation (ACT) Engineering team.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, implement cloud infrastructure and cloud service solutions in a Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security
  • Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure
  • Analyze existing operational standards, processes, and/or governance to identify and implement improvements
  • Design and Implement Azure Landing Zones: Architect and develop robust Azure landing zones tailored for enterprise-wide use, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
  • Enhance and Refine Infrastructure: Continuously improve the architecture and infrastructure of Azure landing zones, optimizing performance, cost, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with LOBs: Work closely with various lines of business (LOBs) and CIOs to understand their requirements and ensure the landing zones meet their needs.
  • Provisioning and Automation: Utilize Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of Azure resources, ensuring consistent and repeatable deployments.
  • Governance and Security: Implement and manage IAM, including RBAC roles, custom RBAC roles, and security artifacts like service principal names (SPNs) and key vaults, to ensure secure and compliant access to Azure resources.
  • A very sound understanding on Azure hierarchy around Subscriptions and Management Groups
  • Organize and manage Azure subscriptions and management groups to streamline resource management and ensure adherence to organizational policies.
  • Networking Understanding: Have a good understanding and working knowledge on complex networking setups within Azure, including virtual networks, subnets, firewalls, and other network security groups.
  • Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) leveraging cloud native tooling such as Terraform to ensure automated and consistent platform deployments
  • Ensure all infrastructure components meet proper performance and capacity standards

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of Microsoft Azure experience involving design, deployment, configuration and optimization
  • Experience in the design and operation of medium to large scale enterprise infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Azure Infrastructure: Deep understanding of Azure infrastructure components, including storage, networking, and IAM.
  • Experience with Azure Landing Zones: Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing Azure landing zones, with a focus on enterprise environments.
  • Terraform Expertise: Strong proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC), with a proven track record of automating Azure resource provisioning.
  • Security and Governance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Azure security practices, including the creation and management of RBAC roles, custom RBAC roles, service principal names (SPNs), and key vaults.
  • Management Groups and Subscriptions: Experience in organizing and managing Azure subscriptions and management groups for effective resource governance.
  • Networking Skills: Working knowledge and expertise in Azure networking components, such as virtual networks, subnets, firewalls, and network security groups.
  • Architectural and Analytical Skills: Ability to re-architect and optimize existing infrastructures, providing efficient and scalable solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Experience in IaC development with Terraform, Azure CLI,
  • Experience in scripting with Shell or Python
  • Proficient with GIT to perform source code management
  • Experience with Terraform Enterprise (TFE)
  • Experience with Jira and ServiceNow
  • Competence in a wide range of IT skills including networking, information security and CI/CD tooling
  • Enthusiastic learner with the ability to teach and mentor teammates and cross functional partners
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail
