About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual for a Lead Software Engineer role within Core Banking Deposits in Enterprise Data & Platforms/Consumer Technology. This position will play a key role in modernizing the Transaction Processing platform that will provide invariant capabilities for the enterprise. Experience in Cloud, DevSecOps, Domain Driven Design and Architecture are foundational and key to the role. This role is a key liaison with various internal teams like engineering & delivery, platform operations, product, risk and compliance. The position will be part of the engineering/delivery team and drive technology transformation and resiliency efforts for transaction processing capabilities. This individual will be a technical expert in the design and development of very complex applications/capabilities within transaction processing ecosystem – analyze complex business requirements, design and/or redesign existing applications, provide direction to the application development/engineering team, create/maintain any/all system interface artifacts, and any other compliance policy and procedure documents. This position will act as the lead in ensuring that all non-functional requirements (as required by the enterprise) have been documented, tested and implemented successfully in production environment, ensuring production availability and stability as the number one priority.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or engineering
  • Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and/or Kanban
  • Familiarity with Event driven architecture
  • 3+ years working with configuration and monitoring technologies such as Ansible, Grafana, Elastic, Splunk, Prometheus, Github, Maven
  • 5+ years of Java/J2EE/Spring/Springboot experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using open source technologies such as APIs, Microservices, REST, SOAP, IBM MQ, Apache Kafka, Swagger etc.
  • 5+ years of experience with any Relational and/or NoSql/Document databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle or Postgre etc.
  • 5+ Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Unit Testing, integration testing, API testing, Performance Testing, and Functional testing
  • 3 + years of experience supporting enterprise level complex applications and platforms in Production
  • 1+ years of experience with any of the Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Open Shift, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform.
