About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join the MQ Engineering team. This role is responsible for engineering enterprise‑scale IBM MQ infrastructure with a strong focus on automation‑first design, modern infrastructure engineering practices, and the use of AI to accelerate infrastructure build, configuration, and evolution.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on infrastructure engineer who uses automation and AI‑assisted engineering tools to design scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure platforms. As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building a standardized, scalable, and resilient MQ platform. You’ll bring a strategic engineering mindset and deep experience in managing complex enterprise infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate with other infrastructure teams to architect the platform and empower operations teams by developing robust tooling and automation.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives to design, build, and engineer infrastructure solutions supporting mission‑critical business applications
  • Drive an automation‑first infrastructure engineering strategy, ensuring infrastructure is designed to be programmatically provisioned, configured, and managed
  • Apply AI‑assisted engineering capabilities to accelerate infrastructure development, including code generation, configuration validation, design analysis, and standardization
  • Participate in projects to modernize and evolve MQ infrastructure architecture, aligning with target‑state engineering principles
  • Evaluate internal and external technologies, including AI‑enabled engineering platforms, to support infrastructure build, automation, and architectural goals
  • Design infrastructure patterns and tooling that reduce manual effort and improve repeatability, reliability, and engineering quality
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain infrastructure solutions through collaboration with engineering teams
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document infrastructure automation and tooling using Agile engineering practices
  • Make technical decisions related to architecture, automation frameworks, AI usage, implementation plans, and engineering tradeoffs
  • Identify engineering risks and dependencies early and define mitigation strategies through design and automation
  • Direct daily risk and control activities, ensuring infrastructure engineering aligns with policies, procedures, and standards
  • Recommend engineering approaches that improve cost efficiency, scalability, resiliency, and speed of delivery
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, managers, customers, and vendors to resolve complex engineering challenges.


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years building and managing enterprise scale infrastructure through automation
  • 3+ years of scripting experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, resiliency patterns, security controls, and scalability principles
  • 3+ years of Ansible, Python Experience
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD
  • Working knowledge of Prometheus for metrics and observability
  • Strong understanding of Linux
  • Experience using AI‑assisted tools or platforms to design, generate, validate, or standardize infrastructure and automation code
  • Experience mentoring more junior team members.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$119,000.00 - $224,000.00
