About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer.
With highly skilled Full stack Software Engineering with deep expertise in Java, Angular, Generative AI, and modern database technologies including MongoDB to drive design and delivery of enterprise-scale applications. This role requires full stack technical leadership, architectural ownership, hands-on engineering, and the ability to integrate AI-driven capabilities into scalable systems.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong years of experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, Angular/React based UI development experience preferably in Capital Markets.
- Develop robust backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and integrate with document, relational, and vector databases.
- Hands on experience utilizing agentic engineering approaches to automate, orchestrate, and enhance everyday development tasks.
- Build APIs and microservices supporting AI-driven features such as intelligent search, workflow automation, and semantic enrichment.
- Proven experience designing and working with real time, event driven architectures, integrating UI with backend systems via messaging platforms such as Solace, Kafka, and MQ.
- Strong focus on performance, scalability, and code quality, with hands on experience in:
- Develop modern, responsive web applications using Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, and advanced state management frameworks.
- Build AI-powered UI experiences such as smart recommendations, conversational widgets, and contextual guidance.
- Integrate UI components with backend AI and data services, ensuring efficient streaming, error handling, and real-time updates.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, with experience working in CI/CD pipelines and enforcing code quality through tools like SonarQube.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design, complemented by excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Effective communicator and collaborator, with experience working closely with traders, business users, and cross functional teams in fast paced, high pressure environments
- Build and integrate LLM-based features using enterprise-safe LLMs.
- Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, and integrating AI services with applications.
- Knowledge of AI governance, hallucination mitigation, and enterprise safety practices.
