About the Team/Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, technically deep, and experienced hands-on software engineer to join our Global Risk Operations team in Bangalore, India. This role provides critical technical leadership, spanning tech direction, architecture, and end-to-end development for WEX's modern, cloud-based risk technology ecosystem.

This is an exciting time to be in risk technology at WEX. We're engaged in a cross-functional initiative to build a modern, cloud-based technology ecosystem. This platform will significantly enhance WEX's agility, accelerate our time-to-market, and open up new business opportunities, all while maintaining strict adherence to regulations, policy, and risk mitigation. We are actively building a powerful platform for fraud operations and management, credit underwriting and management, and finance risk operations and management. These platforms are built upon our robust Data and AI Platforms, leveraging both open-source technologies and vendor tools. This role will specifically focus on the systems and tools that manage WEX's global risk operations, including receivables risk, payment collection, and invoicing.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in the risk field and invoicing platform development, a proven background in developing complex software platforms, strong engineering skills, and excellent communication. You should be driven to achieve results in a fast-paced environment and have a strong track record of delivering effective, highly available, and flexible technology platforms in a hyper-growth setting where priorities shift quickly.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to learn about our customers biggest challenges.

  • Design, test, code, and instrument new data products/systems/platforms at large complexity level with simple and high quality solutions.

  • Effectively measure, inspect, and drive decisions using data.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.

  • Perform software development with TDD and BDD, Microservice and Vertical Slice Architectures with high efficiency, reliability, quality, and scalability.

  • Support live data products/systems/platforms, promote proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and continuous improvement.

  • Analyze existing systems and processes independently and effectively to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements.

  • Mentor your peers, foster continuous learning within your team and organization.

  • Attract high talents from industry to your team; help in interviews and provide quality and timely feedback.

  • Role model at our team’s process and best practices, and apply them to given tasks with help from peers and your manager.   • Interact with Senior Managers to discuss plans, results, and advise on complex matters.

Experience you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
    OR demonstrable equivalent deep understanding, experience, and capability.

  • Master degree in Computer Science (or related field) and 5+ years of experience in software engineering or 7+ years of experience in software engineering.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Rich experience in designing a high quality and efficient solution for a medium/large complex level problem.

  • Rich experience and strong implementation skills using languages like Java, C#, Go lang, & Python, including coding, automated testing, measurement and monitoring.

  • Very experienced and with good understanding of data processing techniques, such as data pipeline/platform development, SQL, and DBs

  • Very experienced and with good understanding of CI/CD automation.

  • Rich experience in combined engineering practice and agile development.

  • Passionate about keeping up with modern technologies and design.

  • Strong willingness and capability to learn new technology and tools quickly when needed.
