About the Role
As a UX Designer III with a focus on AI-driven solutions, you’ll shape the end-to-end design of new and existing AI-powered experiences across a diverse set of domains including health, travel, payments, and fleet management. You will lead the creation of intuitive interfaces and interaction models that leverage large language models, chatbots, and other advanced AI capabilities. Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and researchers, you’ll translate complex AI functionality into seamless, ethically responsible, and delightful user experiences. You’ll be instrumental in driving a design vision that marries user-centered principles with emerging AI opportunities.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Design Leadership:
Define and implement a unified design vision for AI-driven features, ensuring consistency and usability across desktop and mobile platforms.
Shape the product strategy in partnership with senior leaders, aligning design decisions with WEX’s corporate goals, market trends, and the evolving capabilities of AI technologies.
Advocate for responsible and ethical AI integration, balancing innovation with user trust and transparency.
Technical & Creative Execution:
Design end-to-end workflows for AI-based interactions—such as generative AI content suggestions, intelligent search, and conversational interfaces.
Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes that showcase complex AI functionalities in simple, intuitive ways.
Develop AI-informed personas, journey maps, and conceptual diagrams to guide product development and influence the design system with AI-specific patterns and components.
Experiment rapidly, leveraging a test-and-learn methodology to refine interactions and optimize for user outcomes.
Collaboration & Communication:
Partner with product managers, AI researchers, data scientists, and engineers to translate technical capabilities into compelling user-facing features.
Present design proposals, iterate based on stakeholder feedback, and maintain strong relationships across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless implementation.
Engage with internal AI research communities, staying current on emerging technologies and influencing their application in WEX’s ecosystem.

Experience You’ll Bring
Solid experience in UX design, with a track record of creating intuitive interfaces in complex domains.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced education in HCI, Interaction Design, or a related discipline is a plus.
Experience designing for AI/ML-driven products—such as chatbots, generative AI tools, or advanced search interfaces—is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Figma and related design/prototyping tools; familiarity with component-based design systems and responsive, device-agnostic design.
Understanding of brand guidelines, localization, and multilingual platforms (e.g., English, Spanish, French).
Strong storytelling skills to communicate design rationale and a willingness to navigate ambiguity at a fast pace.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, from engineers and data scientists to product managers and researchers.
