About the Team/Role
WEX is building the next generation of AI-native analytics and decision-support applications designed to help customers better understand and optimize their operations. These products combine modern web application design, large-scale transaction data, advanced analytics, and AI-powered insights to deliver powerful yet intuitive user experiences.
This role sits on the AI Insights team within the North American (NAM) division, a strategic initiative focused on delivering analytics and AI capabilities that help fleet customers reduce costs and operate more efficiently. The team operates in a product operating model, bringing together engineers, data scientists, analysts, and product leaders who work directly with customers to build high-impact solutions.
We are seeking a Senior AI-Native Web Application Engineer who will design and build modern web applications that enable customers to interact with complex datasets, analytics models, and AI-driven insights. This role will play a critical part in launching AI Insights into General Availability and building the next generation of AI-enabled experiences for enterprise customers.
How you'll make an impact
Design and build high-performance, scalable web applications that deliver intuitive and powerful user experiences.
Develop modern front-end and full-stack solutions for data-rich applications including dashboards, analytics tools, and visualization interfaces.
Build and enhance user experiences that allow customers to interact with large datasets and AI-generated insights.
Integrate web applications with backend services, APIs, and data platforms.
Partner closely with engineers, data scientists, and product leaders to translate business requirements into high-quality software solutions.
Contribute to system architecture, application design, and engineering best practices.
Deliver polished user interfaces and workflows that simplify complex data interactions.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or similar technologies to accelerate development workflows while maintaining strong ownership of code quality and architecture.
Collaborate across disciplines to deliver innovative AI-powered product experiences.
Help evolve the platform to support future agentic AI experiences and advanced analytics capabilities.
Experience you'll bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
10+ years of professional experience building modern web applications.
Proven experience designing and delivering high-performance, user-facing web applications.
Experience building data-driven web applications, including dashboards, reporting interfaces, or analytics tools.
Strong experience working with APIs and integrating front-end applications with backend systems.
Demonstrated ability to deliver successful production software and ship meaningful product features.
Strong frontend development experience with frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar technologies.
Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience working with backend technologies such as Java, Node.js, Python, or similar languages.
Experience building applications that interact with data platforms, analytics systems, or large datasets.
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor, Codex, or similar) to accelerate software development while maintaining strong engineering discipline.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, data, and product teams.
Intellectual curiosity and interest in learning about adjacent disciplines such as data science and analytics.
What will give you an edge
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience building and scaling design systems or shared component libraries.
Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and frontend performance optimization.
Experience with micro-frontends or module federation architectures.
Experience working with analytics platforms, data pipelines, or data science-adjacent environments.
Interest in agentic AI and emerging AI-native application patterns.
Hands-on experience building AI-powered product features, copilots, or agent-based workflows is a plus.
