Yahoo Mail is the ultimate consumer inbox with hundreds of millions of users. It’s the best way to access your email and stay organized from a computer, phone or tablet. With its beautiful design and lightning fast speed, Yahoo Mail makes reading, organizing, and sending emails easier than ever.

Position Overview

Yahoo Mail is one of the world’s largest consumer communication platforms, serving hundreds of millions of users globally. For decades, Mail has been where the important things in people’s lives arrive—work, family, finances, health, travel, and everything in between. Today, we’re reimagining what a great consumer email client can be: one that is intelligent, trustworthy, and thoughtfully designed to help people take care of the business of life.

We’re looking for a Senior Director of Core Product to lead the evolution of Yahoo Mail’s core user experience. This role is responsible for defining and delivering improvements to the core Mail experience that increase clarity, reduce friction, improve retention, and elevate overall product quality at scale.

This leader will set the bar for product quality across the Mail experience—from inbox and search to organization, trust, performance, and everyday workflows. You’ll work closely with design, engineering, and data science to ensure Yahoo Mail is not just functional at scale, but genuinely loved by the people who use it.

This leader must thrive in high-accountability environments where product quality, business performance, and execution velocity must coexist. This is a senior product leadership role for someone who believes that great consumer products are built through taste, empathy, and rigor, and who has experience delivering polished, durable experiences to massive audiences.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own the core product experience for Yahoo Mail, with accountability for experience quality, usability, and user value. You’ll lead a team of product managers and partner deeply with design and engineering to build products people love that make the business of life a little easier.

You will:

  • Own and drive a quarterly roadmap for the core Mail experience with clear success metrics, tied directly to retention and engagement outcomes.

  • Set and uphold a high bar for craft, clarity, and usability across platforms, ensuring Mail feels intuitive, reliable, and thoughtfully designed.

  • Work with engineering to balance product quality, performance, and technical sustainability at global scale.

  • Use user research, qualitative insights, and data to understand how people actually use Mail in their daily lives and where the experience falls short.

  • Make hard product decisions that balance user trust and long-term value with user growth.

  • Establish clear product principles and experience standards that guide teams and ensure consistency across the product.

  • Collaborate with adjacent teams across Yahoo to ensure the Mail experience feels cohesive within the broader ecosystem.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a strong team of product managers, fostering a culture of empathy, craftsmanship, and accountability.

  • Make prioritization calls fast and communicate them clearly.

This role has broad influence across the Mail organization and plays a central part in shaping how hundreds of millions of people experience Yahoo Mail every day.

What You Have

  • 10+ years of Product Management experience building and scaling consumer products, with senior leadership experience.

  • Strong product judgment paired with execution discipline. You can identify what's worth building and then actually ship it under constraint.

  • Deep empathy for consumers and a demonstrated ability to translate real user needs into elegant product solutions.

  • Track record of shipping consumer product improvements that moved retention or engagement metrics at scale.

  • Experience owning core product surfaces and workflows in complex, long-lived consumer products.

  • Comfort working closely with design and engineering to iterate toward excellence, not just ship features.

  • Data fluency paired with strong qualitative instincts; you know when to trust the numbers and when to dig deeper.

  • AI Fluency: you integrate AI thinking into product strategy naturally, not as an afterthought

  • Experience leading and developing product teams, including coaching senior PMs and shaping product culture.

  • Exceptional communication skills, able to articulate a clear product vision and inspire teams around it.

  • Experience with growth and defining best-in-class new user experiences is a plus

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
