The Enterprise IT team at Yahoo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, build, and scale mission-critical full-stack solutions that revolutionize how our employees work. This role requires deep, hands-on experience across the backend and frontend stack, including Golang, Python, JavaScript, databases, and modern web technologies. In this role, you will operate as a senior individual contributor—driving architectural decisions, leading complex technical initiatives, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality software. This role requires deep expertise across frontend and backend technologies, strong ownership, and the ability to mentor others.
As a key member of the IT - Productivity, Support, and Shared Engineering team, you will contribute to the development of enterprise-grade software solutions that integrate cutting-edge technologies to streamline business processes and significantly boost employee productivity.
Responsibilities:
Design, architect, and deliver end-to-end scalable product features and systems that address complex business challenges.
Collaborate with product managers and engineers across different time zones to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
Lead technical initiatives and design discussions, create design documents, influence long-term engineering directions, and mentor junior engineers across the team.
Evaluate and integrate emerging full-stack technologies and frameworks.
Architect scalable backend services (microservices, APIs, distributed systems) with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and performance.
Build robust frontend experiences using modern JavaScript frameworks and HTML/CSS best practices.
Ensure code quality through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures using AWS or GCP services to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements, set technical direction, and deliver impactful solutions.
Continuously monitor industry trends and software development best practices and quickly translate innovations into actionable solutions for employees.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
6-10+ years of professional software engineering experience building APIs, backend development, and DevOps, including recent experience in a senior or lead role.
Strong proficiency in Golang and Python (services, APIs, backend systems).
Advanced knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar).
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Excellent communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with strong attention to detail.
A proactive attitude towards evolving skill sets and staying current with technology trends.
Experience in AI platforms, GenAI, and machine learning application development.
Capable of leading in a collaborative environment involving developing solutions, presenting those solutions for review by peers, and training co-workers on the solutions.
Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
Background in leading agile development teams and delivering high-impact software solutions at scale.
