Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer on our team, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain services that manage the lifecycle of cloud metadata supporting geography expansions and day‑to‑day Azure operations.
- Develop and automate workflows that enable building, expanding, and operating the Azure Cloud at scale.
- Enable secure, efficient, and scalable access to cloud metadata through reliable, well‑designed services and APIs.
- Collaborate closely with partner teams to improve cloud buildout tools and support a broad range of Azure buildout and lifecycle activities.
- Support the identification of dependencies and contribute to the creation of design documents for product features, with guidance and oversight.
- Learn to design and implement code for products, services, or features, reusing existing components and patterns where appropriate.
- Assist in breaking down work items into tasks and provide estimates to support planning and delivery.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for simple scenarios by monitoring systems or features for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, and following established playbooks to recommend and implement recovery actions.
- Continuously build technical depth by reviewing current developments and proactively seeking new knowledge to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance, while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, metadata management, or lifecycle automation.
- Familiarity with Azure services, Kusto, Azure Graph.
- Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
