The Systems and Analysis group analyzes and evaluates concepts vital to maintaining the technological lead of the United States Air Force. Our recommendations inform decision-makers within government and DoD senior leadership and frequently influence future military acquisitions and impact current day missions. Our independent assessments rely on modeling and simulation at the right fidelity, backed by ground and flight testing from our sister group, Tactical Defense Systems.

We work on a broad range of technical topics critical to Air Force missions:

  • Survivability of U.S. Air Force aircraft against air defenses – today and into the future (strike bombers, fighter jets, ISR aircraft, and aerial refueling tankers)
  • Enabling fighter technologies and air combat tactics
  • Tactical sensor performance across the electromagnetic spectrum – radar to infrared
  • Impact of radar jamming and electronic protection techniques
  • Advanced air-to-air missile and air-to-surface weapon capabilities
  • Myth-busting of unconventional technologies for military applications

Position Description

The Systems Administrator (Level II) will support a wide variety of information technology (IT) tasks across a diverse set of network and computer resources. The applicant should be capable of clear communication with internal staff and external vendors. They will work under the general supervision of the lead and senior IT staff to complete assigned tasks. They will take on unique technical challenges to resolve problems for technical staff of ~40 users and share knowledge. The applicant should be able and willing to learn new technical concepts, be flexible to dynamic challenges, and contribute to the knowledgebase and team capabilities.

Responsibilities include

  • Work under the general supervision of lead and senior IT staff to complete assigned tasks
  • Provide day-to-day end user support for IT systems
  • Assist users with technical issues on their desktop PC hardware and applications
  • Willingness to learn Linux system administration (prior experience preferable)
  • Accommodate IT-related equipment and software moves, adds, and disposal
  • Work with security to mitigate vulnerabilities in a timely manner and keep systems up-to-date and patched
  • Participate and provide insight on Division and Lab-wide IT projects
  • Create and disseminate documentation
  • Participate in team IT procurement activity

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, technical degree, or professional certification, plus a minimum of four years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of two years of experience; other relevant or equivalent experience will be considered
  • Applicant must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an existing Secret clearance
  • Interest in working with others to solve problems
  • Working knowledge of computer operation and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of networking, IT, and IT security concepts
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems, applications and deployment
  • Applicant must have or obtain a cybersecurity certificate at 8570 level 2 or higher compliance
    • Ex: Obtain Security+ within 6 months of employment date
  • Applicant must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Applicant must be interested in troubleshooting and eager to learn
