Description
The Moayedi lab in the Pain Research Center at New York University College of Dentistry (New York, NY) is seeking a Junior Research Scientist to study oral somatosensation. The focus of the Moayedi lab is on the neurobiology of the cells and circuits that underlie oral and upper airway mechanosensation and their roles in feeding, communication, and oral pain. The lab uses a combination of molecular biology, in vivo functional imaging, physiology, and behavior.
The researcher will assist with rodent husbandry (colony maintenance, genotyping, performing injections, assessing animal health, maintaining records), behavior (somatosensory and orofacial), histology (whole mount and sliced preparations, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, florescent and light microscopy), data analysis, and preparing figures. The researcher will be responsible for rodent colony maintenance, ordering, general lab upkeep and assisting with training new lab members.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,500 - $54,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Qualifications
We seek a highly motivated researcher who holds a Bachelor’s degree in biology or related fields. Strong laboratory and analytical skills, effective written and oral communication, and efficient project management are essential. Experience with rodent colony maintenance, somatosensory and oral behavior, imaging, molecular biology, and rodent surgery are highly desirable.
