Part-Time

New York University College of Dentistry is seeking a part-time Junior Research Scientist to work in Dr. May Khanna’s laboratories in the Department of Molecular Pathobiology at New York University College of Dentistry. The candidate will focus on biochemical work with a major focus on RNA. Their responsibilities will include aseptic RNA and DNA extraction from cell cultures, mainly mammalian cells, RNA purification/depletion, high throughput RNA sequencing, and RNA/DNA screening and analysis. Specifically, their work will be to analyze TDP-43 from an RNA perspective.
Additional responsibilities will also include regular upkeep of the lab as well as adherence to safety protocols.

The laboratory seeks individuals who are self-motivated, organized, and enjoy working in a diverse team along with desires to pursue their own ideas in a very supportive environment.

This appointment is immediately available.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary range for this position is $18 - $25 per hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have:

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biology, or a related field.
  • Excellent experimental and organization skills.
  • Experience working in a laboratory.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to communicate scientific material and work well in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
