Description
The researcher will work in the group of Prof. Aleksandar Donev on developing fast methods for solving electrostatics and Stokes flow problems involving particles in semi-confined geometries. Examples of physical systems of interest include suspensions of colloids driven by external electric and magnetic fields, lipid membranes, and electrolytes. The candidate will help implement and apply the novel computational techniques to problems of scientific importance, in collaboration with application scientists (including experimentalists) in soft condensed matter physics, chemical engineering, and cell biology.
The initial appointment will be one year with the option to renew for a second year based on funding and performance.
Qualifications
Masters degree or equivalent in computational and applied mathematics or computational physics, with prior research experience in the area of soft condensed matter physics.
