The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for multiple tenured and tenure-track positions at all levels with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025. Senior ranks will be considered for qualified candidates.

We seek strong candidates working in any area of computer science.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline. We seek an individual with a strong record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and the potential to develop an excellent funding record. New appointees are expected to be outstanding scholars and to participate in teaching at all levels from undergraduate to doctoral. NYU offers an excellent scholarly environment, with a large and rapidly expanding group of faculty members working in computer and data science. The CSE department has 25 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, including 15 NSF CAREER Award winners. In addition, it has 13 contract faculty members. The department has a history of collaborative research across NYU, including with the Center for Data Science, the Center for Urban Science and Progress, the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, the Global School of Public Health, the Grossman School of Medicine, and other Tandon School of Engineering Departments.

Departmental research areas include algorithms and theory; big data management, analysis, and visualization; cybersecurity, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). We also have groups working in interdisciplinary areas such as AI for games, cybercrime, online political communication, public health and social media, responsible AI, sports analytics, and urban computing.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9-month) range for this position is $125,000-$195,000 for the Assistant Professor rank, $145,000-$235,000 for Associate Professor rank, and $170,000-$270,000 for Full Professor Rank. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
