Seeking qualified applicant to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) in data analysis and statistical programming with Dr. Pamela Morris-Perez to support work across her lines of research: 1) her newly-launched center, ARCADIA (A Research Center for Adolescent Interconnected Approaches) for Suicide Prevention, which includes a randomized study of system-level strategy "WeCARE," in two hospital emergency departments in New York City, to screen Black youth for suicide risk and connect those at risk for suicide to mental health services; 2) the study of a parenting intervention within pediatric care called Smart Beginnings; and 3) partnership work with NYC's Department of Education to study and support the city's universal pre-K program. Successful candidates have demonstrated SAS and Stata programming experience, with coursework and knowledge of statistics and analytics. Candidates should be proactive, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, commitment to collaboration and teamwork, and can effectively multi-task. Strong analytical skills, as well as strong writing and communication skills and a solid understanding of quantitative research methods are necessary. Research interest in early childhood education, education policy, and population-level demographics is a plus.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include active involvement in all stages of analysis: data management, creating and merging large datasets, preparing variables for analysis, aiding in the preparation and distribution of training and research materials, quantitative data analysis using a range of analytic approaches, and write-up of results. General work supporting the project is possible, but not necessary. The Assistant Research Scientist will work closely with faculty and other research scientists.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the base hourly range for this position is $21-$23/hour. New York University considers factors such as, but not limited to, the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be fully remote.
Qualifications
Candidates should have or be working towards a MA/MS in statistics, developmental psychology, economics, public policy, or related social science field. Former research experience on comparable projects and quantitative data analysis using statistical software is critical. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and communicating with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the research team and the university.

- The ability to handle tasks requiring high levels of attention to detail, to carry complex research tasks to completion, and to efficiently manage work in the time required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), REDCap, and Qualtrics
