JOB OPPORTUNITY: RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Location: Los Angeles

PART TIME (20-27 hours a week)

This position is hybrid and requires the ability to travel to on-site visits with agency partners, team meetings and in-person duties in the LA area as needed.

Initial appointment term: 6 months

Study title: A longitudinal examination of factors predicting the social networks and mental health of services of Black and Latinx individuals with serious mental illness

Principal Investigator: Dr. Rohini Pahwa

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collecting Quantitative survey data
  • Conduct social network, social cognition and life history interviews
  • Enter data into various platforms including RedCap, excel, and box
  • Attend regular check-in and team meetings
  • Perform other research related activities as required

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelors in social work, psychology, public health, and/or other allied social/behavioral science
  • Experience working on quantitative research studies, including experience working with large datasets and entering data in RedCap/Quantrics
  • Experience with collecting quantitative survey data
  • Interest in working with individuals with serious mental illnesses
  • Excellent data collection, data entry and data management skills
  • High level of attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work on a team
  • Commitment to social equity and services to marginalized and vulnerable populations

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Masters in social work or related field preferred

Performance Evaluation Procedure

  • The Research Assistant will meet with the Principal Investigator and other team members, as needed, on a regular basis to review completed tasks and plan next activities. During these contacts the Research Assistant will discuss professional and academic development goals.
