JOB OPPORTUNITY: Research Assistant (Full-time)

Salary: $47,000 - $50,000

Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension, position is dependent on grant funding

In-person (not hybrid)

Project title: Community-based behavioral intervention to increase COVID-19 and influenza vaccination for African American/Black and Latino persons: An optimization randomized controlled trial

Duties and Responsibilities

· Obtain informed consent from participants

· Screen and enroll eligible participants

· Use social media and other outreach methods for participant recruitment

· Facilitate health education sessions

· Conduct participant assessments in REDCap

· Schedule appointments and manage administrative tasks

· Perform additional related duties as needed

Performance Evaluation Procedure

· The Research Assistant will meet with the PI on a weekly basis to discuss completed tasks and plan activities for the following week. During these meetings the Research Assistant will also discuss professional development goals.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience Skills and Abilities

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Current or recent graduate student in public health, nursing, social work, psychology, or other social/behavioral science

Experience working on a research study

Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods

Experience with Black and Latino/Hispanic families and communities

Interest in vaccine issues and vaccine hesitancy, as well as the structural factors that create medical distrust

Knowledgeable about COVID-19 and flu vaccinations and comfortable leading discussions about the benefits of vaccinations with a diverse study population

Demonstrable commitment to vaccine equity and access

Ability to stay up-to-date on COVID-19 and flu vaccinations

Excellent organizational skills

Commitment to racial justice, social justice, and social equity

Must have a high level of attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work on a team, and punctuality

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

Interest in the multiphase optimization strategy framework

Knowledge of REDCap or ability to learn new computer programs

Experience with health education

Training and experience in motivational interviewing theory and techniques

Knowledge of IRB protocols
