Description

The Associate Research Scientist will support the NATURA (Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Urban Resilience in the Anthropocene) initiative, conducting literature reviews and data management to identify knowledge gaps in NbS implementation. The position will support development of the NATURA Global Roadmap for Urban NbS, as well as related research initiatives focused on NbS to enhance resilience in urban areas, including the US National Nature Assessment. This position requires expertise in conducting literature reviews, managing complex datasets, and synthesizing research findings into actionable insights that inform and advance the Lab’s research agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct systematic literature reviews on NbS applications in urban resilience.

  • Manage and analyze datasets related to urban sustainability and environmental justice.

  • Assist in the development of the NATURA Roadmap, synthesizing key findings into actionable insights.

  • Assist with systematic literature review on bright spots in US nature for the national assessment

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $26/hr. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.

  • Strong experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

  • Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python) and reference management software (e.g., Zotero, EndNote).
