Dr. Karen Adolph seeks an Assistant Research Scientist for a part-time position available Summer 2025. The Assistant Research Scientist will join Dr. Adolph’s research lab and contribute to a number of projects involving lab data collections and coding and analyzing of video data. Dr. Adolph’s work focuses on behavioral development in infancy and uses the power of video to reveal the richness and complexity of behavior. Current projects explore the importance of flexibility in motor skill acquisition among infants.
The Assistant Research Scientist will support the PI and research team in assisting on on-site data collections with infant research participants and coding and analyzing video data. Duties include but are not limited to: coding of video data and performing reliability analyses in the Datavyu video-coding tool, analyzing video data in SPSS, set up for and clean up after data collections, and assist senior researchers with data collections.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $18-25/hr for 27 hours per week and up to 27 hours per week. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Qualifications
Candidates should be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment and communicating with a wide range of individuals within the University. The ideal candidate must have previous experience working in a research setting with infants and children, as well as experience in video coding using Datavyu and video sharing using Databrary. Candidates who are fluent in Spanish are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications include:
• B.A. or B.S. in psychology or a related field,
• strong interpersonal and communication skills,
• excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and exceptional time management and organizational skills.
