Position Description:

The research assistant will meet with the principal investigator on a weekly basis to discuss completed tasks and plan activities for the following week. Duties and responsibilities include coding qualitative data from study project, performing literature review searchers, write and draft manuscript for publication, as well as other related activities as required.

Commitment: Temporary – Part-Time (10 hours/week)

End date: August 15, 2025

Salary Range/Hourly Pay: $29/hour

Project Title: Cultural Brokers: engaging refugees in mental health services and treatment

Project Description: The purpose of the study is to explore the role of Cultural Brokers in engaging refugees in mental health services and treatment. A Cultural Broker is a person who is familiar with both mainstream U.S. culture and refugee culture and uses this shared understanding to help refugees reduce cultural and structural barriers and facilitate mental health treatment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform literature review searches
  • Code qualitative data from study project
  • Write and draft manuscripts for publication
  • Perform other related activities as required

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in social work, public health, psychology, or a related field
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn new software such as Nvivo
  • Experience with conducting literature reviews
  • Experience with qualitative analysis
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail, flexibility, ability to work on a team, and punctuality

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Interest in mental health research with diverse immigrant and refugee communities
  • Graduate degree in social work, public health, psychology, or a related field
