Description
Drs. Karen Adolph and Catherine Tamis-LeMonda at New York University invite applications for hourly research associates to assist in collecting, transcribing, and annotating videos. Collaborate projects across the two labs gather videos of mother-child natural and structured play interactions in the home environment, with researchers transcribing mother-child language interactions and annotating mother and child behaviors.
Research Associates will be overseen by senior research staff in Drs. Adolph and Tamis-LeMonda's labs and may attend weekly lab meetings. Collecting duties entail visiting the homes of families and video-recording mothers and children during everyday interactions and play tasks. Transcription and annotation duties entail using specialized software to mark parent and child behaviors from home visit videos. Positions require a 10-20 hour/week commitment for two consecutive semesters.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base rate for this position is $18/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be fully in-person.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Qualifications include holding a B.A./B.S. in Psychology or similar field, a 3.5+ GPA, and experience or interest in working in social science research. For transcription and annotation, attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary. Fluency in English is required and fluency/proficiency in Spanish and/or Mandarin is desirable.
